10 Mar 2022 | Work-life balance

Does the “work, play, sleep” routine go hand in hand with a loss of motivation at work? You bet! No longer feeling like going to the office, feeling out of place, growing proscrastination? It’s not always easy to find the motivation to work, let alone keep it! When you’re feeling demotivated at work, how do you get back in the mood? In this article, we give you our top 4 tips.

Take a step back and identify the sources of your loss of motivation at work.

First of all, you need to learn to identify the reasons why you feel unmotivated in your day-to-day professional life. This is the first thing to do before taking action and looking for solutions. The key is to be able to point out the intruder, which will then enable you to identify the solution. You can then regain your motivation and tip the balance in a positive direction.

The reasons are many and depend on each individual, but in order to help you, here are a few examples that could cause your lack of motivation to work:

  • Work overload and/or difficulties due to a period ;
  • Lack of well-being at work;
  • Your colleagues ;
  • Transportation ;
  • Your superior ;
  • Working methods ;
  • A loss of confidence;
  • Loss of autonomy;
  • A lack of recognition;
  • A personal problem.

To regain motivation at work, it’s important to ask yourself questions about what’s going well and what’s not, in order to find solutions. Take a step back to see things in a positive light. Identify the causes of your lack of motivation at work and then work on your personal development, identify resources and develop strategies.

Surround yourself well

Whether at work or at home, it’s essential to be able to surround yourself with positive vibes and create a favorable environment. When we’re surrounded by people who pull you down, it holds you back and can have a negative influence on your life. Indeed, while loss of motivation is often temporary, if it’s surrounded by negativity it can quickly turn into burn-out.

The positive people around you, on the other hand, will help you regain the envy of investing in yourself and give you a boost. The development of an ecosystem that is favorable to you depends on the people close to you and the people you come into contact with on a regular basis. They contribute to your well-being and motivation.

In a team, there’s also a certain work dynamic that can help you get through a period of demotivation.

Setting goals

Setting goals will help you regain motivation at work. There’s nothing like a clearly defined goal to keep you motivated. When you know where you’re going, you’re ready to go the extra mile to get there. Your goal is your best ally!

Looking for a promotion at work? Do you want a raise? Make it your goal to ask for a review of your position or pay. You can also get more involved by creating new projects, such as a training project, or by taking on other responsibilities.

And it couldn’t be easier:

  • Write down ALL your goals on paper, accompanied by some uplifting music.
  • Next to each objective, define your why.
  • Add a deadline (it can be short or long term).
  • List all the steps involved.
  • Take action!

Taking care of yourself

Often, lack of motivation is linked to lack of rest or fitness. If you want to feel good about yourself at work, it’s important to get a good night’s sleep the night before and do some sport to feel good about yourself. As a result, you’ll be less tired and more motivated. Our sports and pilates experts can help!

The idea is not to overdo it, but to establish a dynamic routine that sets you on the path to your various goals and your renewed motivation. In addition to sport, simple habits such as meditation, reading and writing are reputed to lead you towards new daily practices that are beneficial to your body. There are also a number of personal development exercises that you can find at Samaé.

Doing one of these activities can be an important source of motivation, and therefore beneficial for you in times when your motivation is at its lowest.
